Thanks,

Thanks. I will check these sites.

Most any gardening catalog sells them. Dutch Gardens has pink lily-of-the-valley, 3 bareroot plants for $18.95 plus shipping. I've seen the white lily-of-the-valley for sale at Wal-Mart.

One shoot of Lily of the Valley (sold at garden centers) costs approx. 4-5 dollars!
What a rip-off! I choke every time I see one for sale at that price!
I have extra if you care to drive downtown (my location). I'll just give you some!
Within 3 years, you too will be giving it away!
My Lil of Val came from a very old lady off Troost....many years ago....she told me to just dig up what I wanted.
I'l love to share some with you.
Best,

Downtown isn't all that inconvenient. I work in midtown. I am going out of town this weekend. Is it alright to get back with you next week. Are you available days or evenings? I am rather flexible.

Has anyone had any sucess with bare root transplants of lilly of val? I tried at least twice following the directions on the package with absolutely no luck. The roots seemed healthy and viable. I can't figure out why they are so difficult to get started. It is an economical way to establish them if they would grow.
Would anyone like to share ideas?

I had the same problem with pips two years in a row. They never came up. This year, I saw some lily of the valley in my neighbor's yard. She gave me some plants, and we'll see what happens this year. I never thought they'd be such a challenge!

Michele,

Would you still be interested in sharing your Lil of Val? I have been out of town a lot lately, but back now. If you are, just let me know a convenient day and time. I work full time days, but have some flexibility. Thanks,

Pam

I'm new to this board and am not sure if you can e-mail me from it or not but -- if you would still like to have some Lily of the Valley you are more than welcome to come over and dig up all you want! It's taken over in one of my neglected gardens. I'll check back on this to see if you replied.
